Entry requirements

Applicants must normally have a degree or equivalent and work in a health or social care related area. The university also operates a flexible system  by which students not in possession of a degree may be eligible for entry to the programme (known as Accreditation for Prior Learning APL).

In addition to a degree a number of the named awards have additional entry requirements as listed below:

  • Candidates must be qualified midwives - MSc Midwifery (MSc Maternal and Infant Health is available to non-midwives)
  • Candidates must be qualified first level nurses - MSc Nursing

Students applying for the Clinical Assessment module must have an identified mentor in place and a statement of support completed by their line manager prior to acceptance on the programme.

Application process, including more information on the statement of support

It is also strongly recommended students applying for any of the named awards are currently employed within an area of health and social care as the majority of the coursework is work orientated and geared towards developing and advancing practice.
